Members of NHL community and beyond pay tribute to legendary broadcaster Bob Cole
He rapidly advanced through the ranks at Fort Benning as the parachute infantry battalions were expanded to regiments. By June 6, 1944, he was a lieutenant colonel in command of the 3rd Battalion of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment. D-Day operations edit Cole parachuted into Normandy with his unit as part of the American airborne landings in Normandy. By the evening of June 6, he had gathered 75 men. Monument to Lieutenant Colonel Robert G. On the afternoon of June 10, Cole led 400 men of his battalion in single file down a long, exposed causeway, with marshes at either side. A hedgerow behind a large farmhouse on the right was occupied by well dug-in German troops. At the far end of the causeway was the last of four bridges over the Douve River flood plain. Beyond the last bridge was Carentan, which the 101st had been ordered to seize to facilitate a linkup with the 29th Infantry Division coming off Omaha Beach. His soldiers advanced slowly by crawling or crouching, taking many casualties.

He did the 1972 Summit Series on radio. On TV, there was the 1976 game in Philadelphia when the Soviet Red Army players left the ice in protest at the Flyers take-no-prisoners tactics. He was there for the 2002 Olympic final in Salt Lake City when Canada ended its 50-year Olympic gold-medal drought with a win over the United States in the final.
Not to mention a string of Stanley Cup finals. But Cole was more than hockey. Players, coaches and fans stood in appreciation to honour Cole in the second period as his four children, Christian, Hilary, Megan and Robbie, watched in the gondola at the Bell Centre. Cole, congratulations on 50 great years of hockey. He did 16 games his final season, up from the 10 originally planned.
Bob Cole will always remain the soundtrack of hockey. His love for hockey started at a young age.
It served Cole well. Beginning on radio, Cole looked to paint a picture with his calls. His work routine never changed. For Saturday games, he flew in Friday and returned Sunday.
He met the coaches the morning of the game to go over their lineups, had a nap in the afternoon, then returned to the rink to go to work. Fifty years on, he said he still got goosebumps walking into the arena. Cole was old-school. He talked while the action was on, leaving his colour analyst to chime in when play halted. Neale was one of his favourite broadcast partners. Cole was honoured by the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996 when he won the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster.
He had a passion that every hockey fan felt every time he announced a game. There will only be one Bob Cole. At the Bell Centre in Montreal. It was nice the Stanley Cup was there too. The soundtrack of the game and the country.
Love and respect. Godspeed Bob. Bob Cole gone at the age of 90. Oh Baby what a career. May he rest in peace and may his memory be blessing.

Помимо этого, суды так же признали нежелание Коула общаться со своими адвокатами как рациональный выбор, который не стоит расценивать как признак невменяемости. Слова Эйба явно не соответствуют описанию "едва может разговаривать"; и даже если общение было по переписке, то это означает что Коулу хватило психического состояния писать письма.
Но странно что тюремное бюро не упоминало о посетителях Коула, или то что он писал письма.
