Прогноз на исход.
В четвертьфинале «Флайерз» всухую переиграли « Атланту » — 4:0. Серия продлилась до семи матчей, в каждом из которых победу праздновал хозяева площадки. Победив в седьмой встрече со счётом 4:3 «Флайерз» столкнулись с «Бостоном», который по пути к финалу разобрался с « Чикаго » и « Детройтом ». В сезоне 1979-1980 «Филадельфия» установила рекорд клуба — 35 матчей подряд без поражений 25 побед и 10 ничьих , который держится и по сей день [17].
