Here is the full order for the first 15 picks of the 2017 NHL Draft. But the Devils had the greatest odds of winning the top pick out of the three teams that jumped into the top three.
The Draft will mark the first time the Devils make the first overall pick in franchise history. The Draft will mark the second time the Flyers make the second overall selection.
The Knights must choose a player from each team for a total of 30 players. Las Vegas must choose 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies. At least 20 of the players the Knights choose must be under contract for the 2017-18 season.
Seven of the 30 franchises opted for the latter option, which thus effectively comprises two less protected players. Of these, in turn, six teams Arizona, Florida, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Jersey and Pittsburgh protected four defenders and four attackers, only the New York Islanders chose five defenders and only three strikers. Regardless of the official lists, however, all teams can agree on barter deals with the Golden Knights and give them additional players or draft options if certain players are selected or not selected in the Expansion Draft. Compared to the NHL Expansion Draft 2000 , the number of protectable players is many times lower because the league wants to ensure the competitiveness of the new team. In the last expansion draft, the teams could either exclude nine forwards, five defenders and one goalkeeper or seven forwards, three defenders and two goalkeepers from the selection process.
The selection of the actors to be protected only included players who have been professionals for at least two years - regardless of whether they are in the National Hockey League or the American Hockey League.

As they took the stage to make the fifth-overall selection, however, few were ready for what they were about to announce.
The Canucks seemingly reached and selected forward Elias Pettersson, who divided the experts. Some havd him ranked in the top ten while others saw him as a late-first rounder at best. Once Pettersson took the ice for the Canucks, he left any of his doubters behind. He set the standard throughout his rookie season in 2018-19, posting 28 goals and 66 points en route to winning the Calder Trophy despite only playing in 71 games. Elias Pettersson has brought superstar offensive talent to the Vancouver Canucks.
So, while this pick seemed risky in the moment, it ended up being an absolute hit for the Canucks. Cody Glass — Vegas Golden Knights As the talk of the town, the hockey world waited with bated breath as the Golden Knights made their first pick as a franchise. With this selection, the Golden Knights took forward Cody Glass , a big-bodied, two-way threat that many believed would become the top-line centerpiece for the fledgling franchise. Following his selection in 2017-18, he put up 102 points in 64 games for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, further cementing him as a premier NHL prospect. Glass struggled with injuries and inconsistency to start his professional career, as he only played 41 games in AHL and NHL in 2019-20, scoring just 14 points.
He followed that up with another disappointing split season for Vegas, leading to his trade during the 2021 offseason to the Nashville Predators. He scored 62 points in 68 games, along with another six points in seven games in the postseason. With this newly acquired top-10 pick, the Rangers selected Swedish defenseman Lias Andersson.

Barring trades, the Colorado Avalanche have six forwards, two defensemen not counting the two with NMCs and two goalies who meet the exposure requirements. They should have no trouble in that category.

In the offensive zone, he is one of the most dangerous players in the league, with an incredibly powerful and accurate release — all the more impressive considering how lanky is. He produces highlight-reel plays night in, night out, with tremendous hands in tight. In his own zone, he is efficient at breaking up play with an active stick. Projected as a second-line centre, Pettersson could end up being one of the best middle-men in the league very soon. His incredible mobility combined with some of the best hands and shot in the league makes him a threat from anywhere on the ice.
Whereas Makar usually creates offence rushing full-speed at defenders, Heiskanen is much more subtle. He scans the zone from the point and makes little feints before finding his target. He is every bit as good a skater as Makar and his zone entry and exit numbers are also elite. Heiskanen is significantly better defensively, playing 25-plus minutes in both of his playoff campaigns. He is incredibly efficient at stunting offense with his body and stick. The Stars will be content having picked Heiskanen third. He is a terrific playmaker — he ranked 10th in assists-per-60 last season — and his tireless work ethic makes him difficult to play against. He never stops competing, winning pucks and generating chances for his teammates. He has shown some flair this season, too.
Passing by Robert Thomas has been so nice this season pic. He has an elusive release and picks corners with ease. He should feast on weak matchups as a second-line center this year. In his final year of junior, he carried the Guelph Storm to the Memorial Cup with 42 points in 24 playoff games. In the NHL, he has continued to produce at an impressive rate and has shown he can run a powerplay.

Redoing the First Round of the 2017 NHL Draft

И именно словацкий голкипер последовал в обратном направлении вместе с 19-летним защитником Эриком Черняком, выбранным во втором раунде драфта 2015 года. Makar had a more than unique breakout with the Avs as he was called up to play for the team in the 2018-19 playoffs, where he adapted almost immediately, registering a goal and six points in 10 playoff games, cementing himself undoubtedly into the Avalanche roster for years to come. This season for Colorado, Makar was arguably the top candidate for the Calder Memorial Trophy, having racked up 12 goals and 50 points in just 57 games played. Makar was essentially a human highlight reel in 2019-20. With the fifth pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Vancouver Canucks were fortunate enough to be able to draft arguably the best of the top 5 in Elias Pettersson. While playing a season for Vaxjo HC of the SHL, Petterson lead the league in scoring with 56 points in just 44 games played among men as a 19 year old. Top 5 Rivalries Of All-Time.

Hischier has a very quick first step, excellent acceleration and agility, as well as great edgework. This, along with quick hands, allow him to avoid defenders and make him very elusive when working the puck in the offensive zone. Hischier also has a very high work ethic, he never seems to stop working during a shift. The answer is Callan Foote. Foote scored eight goals and 36 points in 71 games as a WHL rookie, showing real offensive prowess. Foote is an excellent skater. He skates well in both directions, and solid pivots and edgework allow him to cover a lot of ice. Its more about battling in the corners and clearing the front of the net than throwing big open-ice hits though. Foote has a hard slap shot which he keeps low and puts on net. He also has good poise with the puck on his stick, and the vision to quarterback things from the point on the power play. He topped that in his second year, putting up 19 goals and 71 points in just 57 games. The 71 points led the Chiefs in Scoring. He scored seven goals and 13 points in just seven games in the tournament. A late birthday, he is not eligible until the 2017 draft, when he will have just completed his third year in the WHL. Yamamoto has tremendous hands, he is a great stickhandler and can bury goals in tight to the goalie. He also is very quick to loose pucks with great acceleration and a really quick first step. More a play maker than a goal scorer, he uses his quickness and stickhandling to open up passing lanes. Yamamoto can feather passes tape-to-tape to his linemates and has outstanding vision. He also put up 15 goals and 34 points in 37 games playing in the under 20 SuperElite league. A versatile player, Vesalainen has experience playing both wings. He has excellent size, and uses it to protect the puck along the boards and extend plays in the cycle. Gifted with a large wing-span, Vesalainen takes advantage of it to play keep-away with defenders. A budding power forward, Vesalainen wins battles along the boards, and is not afraid to fight through checks to get to the front of the net. Vesalainen also has an excellent shot. His skating is surprisingly quick, and his stride long and fluid. He plays a strong two-way game and covers a lot of ground for a big man. Hague scored 14 goals last season, showing off a powerful slap shot on the power play. He is able to move laterally and walk the line to open up shooting lanes to get his shot through. Hague could stand to improve his passing skills this season though.
