Additionally, Gauthier finds soft spots in coverages to open himself up for teammates to set him up in high-danger. He loves going to the net-front and posing a threat there as well, cleaning up rebounds and getting deflections. Looking at his shot, he has a strong and quick release. Looking at his shooting stats over those tracked games, he fired 23 total shots, with 15 of them hitting the net 65.

These numbers tell us that Cutter Gauthier is a very smart forward that can beat teams in multiple ways, without being predictable. He does not attack high-danger very often, however, when he does, he is one of the most effective players in this class doing so.
Add to the fact that his off-the-puck abilities is also high-end, he is one of the bigger forwards in the class, and he is a very shifty and slippery skater, and you have a player that has immense offensive upside. Gauthier has all the skills, size, and skating a general manager could ask for in a draft, offensively. That makes him not only a safer option early in the draft, but also a very high upside option as well. But how well does he do with moving the puck up the ice to gain offensive opportunities? That is where some concerns lie, though he certainly has the skills to improve.
When it comes to breaking out of the defensive zone, across those three tracked games, Gauthier cleared the zone with possession on 52. Not to mention, his individual zone exit percentage. In other words the percentage in which Gauthier skated the puck out of the defensive zone himself, successfully. That was down at 26. When it came to entering the offensive zone, Gauthier was directly involved in 36 entry attempts.

The Flyers can keep an eye on him at Boston College, but not to the degree that they can in the pros, whether in Lehigh Valley or with the Flyers. Intriguing idea, though. If so, who? My guess is that Tyson Foerster will get a look as well, probably after James van Riemsdyk is shipped off at the trade deadline. I fully expect Egor Zamula and Ronnie Attard to get call-ups as well. John Tortorella has made reference to wanting to get a look at a few more defensemen currently down in the minors, with Zamula who obviously already was up this season and Attard the most likely candidates. They know what Seeler is. Any other candidates? Well, Ersson will likely be back, if he counts.
If Gauthier signs at the end of his college season, he very well could get a look. There are lots of possible prospect call-up options.
Today I was playing centre out there. Whatever the coach wants to do. They have speed, size, and scoring ability. We are close friends off the ice. Gauthier is an important leader on this team and the fact that this camp got the juices flowing again with his linemates is more important than what happened during drills.
This year we have seven or eight guys from BC. Gauthier worked hard over the summer. A lot of it centres around scoring goals and he will be looked at as the main shot on the power play. Just bringing it every single shift. Shift in and shift out. Bringing it every night. And touching up on goalscoring.
