The points contextual menu is a bit different from the standard floors and roofs you are used to. This new menu has actually been available since Revit 2023. Of course, you can also use this in plans, sections and elevation views for presentations. The models can be used for in-context modelling and have rudimentary snapping via the Revit point snap function.
In the example below you can see that I have linked a bridge pier across from Autodesk Docs that was authored in Autodesk Inventor. This is a great way of integrating models from many other BIM and manufacturing authoring tools. Topography updates Toposurfaces have now been discontinued in this release and the new toposolid tool is now the preferred method to create topography.
There have been several improvements with the introduction of toposolids such as the ability to cut the toposolids and also incorporate thickened layers to create raised solid regions. These can be used to represent basic landscaping and roads. In the example below, a toposolid has been excavated around concrete foundations by cutting the family from the solid.
If required, the excavated volume can then be displayed. The second example shows a retaining wall. The toposolid can be cut vertically on the back face of the wall which makes editing the toposolid very simple.
If desired, cut and fill can also be calculated with a toposurface by using graded regions. Sheet, Revision and View updates Building on the updates from the previous releases, Autodesk are making working with sheets a little easier. In Revit 2024 we can now move views between sheets and keep alignments and positions.
The best feature is being able to add a revision to multiple sheets. Multiple views can now be moved to other sheets either by selecting the views or simply dragging and dropping from the project browser. Revision clouds can now be scheduled which, again, has been a long-standing request from users.
The revision schedule can be created in a similar way to any other schedule. However, we now can schedule fields from the Revision, Sheet, View and the Project Information which is useful when issuing sheets. Structural Updates As in the previous release, the focus remains on the workflows and toolsets with the analytical modeling process.
Also, we see some strengthening of the reinforcement tools with the addition of bending details and alignment control when using freeform rebar. I will also look at the update from Revit 2023. Loads have been overhauled and the older non hosted loads have been replaced with parametric, intelligent Point, Line and Area loads.

No more extra right clicks, which means fewer steps. Previously, Revit could only create one EAM that included everything in the model with limited filtering options. There are also a few options around the unfolding or offsetting of Bending Details. When you have shapes such as links that overlap it could be confusing when showing lengths and angles of the hooks. These 3 configurations are shown in the image below using a standard link. Currently, the Bending Details cannot be tagged but I am sure that Autodesk will add this functionality in future releases. The bending details could also become a solution for certain detailing conventions such as tick and tag in sectional views and the display of bars in plan. Bending Details in Schedules The Bending Details can also be used in schedules which is especially useful for non-standard shape codes.
It is worth noting that you will only see the shape once the schedule is placed onto a sheet. Again, in many other regions and countries, shape codes are always shown in the schedule regardless. In the example below, Bending Details are shown in the bending schedule with the new auto size option for rows with images. In the above image, the segment names are displayed to reduce the amount of space required but you can also configure the Bending Details specifically for use within schedules. Here in the UK, it would only be necessary to show the bending sketch for non-standard shapes so it would be useful to see a feature where you could control which shape codes use the new Bending Detail and display on the schedule. Again, this is the first iteration, and I am sure we will see other additions to this new feature in future releases. We will now look at a feature that was released in Revit 2023.
Whilst this is an amazingly simple tool it really makes a difference when working with rebar. In the example below we have a rebar set which is configured for the spacing and number of bars. If I add additional bars, they may end up on the wrong end of the rebar set. Another new tool in Revit 2024 allows us to control the alignment of freeform rebar when placing along a path. In previous releases, the rebar would stay aligned to the path, but we can now align the rebar vertically if required. An example of this is shown below with the curved wall with a tapering base. In this example, the rebar is aligned vertically but still runs along the path.
Analytical Modelling Updates Many of these updates happened in Revit 2023. Lat year we saw the introduction of an independent analytical model that could be managed and controlled separately from the physical model. To strengthen this workflow, we have some new tools to help with the definition of the analytical model.

You can now add layers with thickness and materials - just like other system families. In addition to that, there are also new Contour Display options. We will definitely be using this feature to arrange the annotation files when creating families. It might take a while to get the hang of how it works but it seems like a good addition. For those of us who used to work in AutoCAD, not having a dark theme in Revit always took a while to get used to. We finally have a dark theme in Revit and it does very much seem worth the wait.
It has several options to really customize it. To turn it on, you will need to navigate to the File tab in the upper right and then select the Options button. There is a new tab in this property box named Colors.
Also, subregions will be converted into subdivisions. In Revit 2024: Subregions has been replaced by Sub-Divide. The base idea is the same: draw boundaries over the toposolid. Similarly to sub-regions, you can extend the boundaries beyond the limit of the toposolid without receiving a warning. Sub-Divisions are placed on top of the toposolid. You can then pick a material and set a thickness in the instance properties. Sub-Division have a thickness instance parameter.
There is another parameter called Inherit Contours. It allows you to decide if you want to see the contours on the subdivision or not. In Revit 2024: Building pads are gone. Instead, Autodesk recommends using the Massing tool to create void geometry. These tools are more complex and potentially more confusing than building pads, but they allow you to create more complex shapes. In this example, we create a void shape for a parking driveway. You could also use the model in-place tool, but uh... Overall, this is probably for the best... In Revit 2024: Each toposolid type can have different kinds of topography contours. In the type properties of a toposolid, you need to click on Contour Display.
You can decide to have a toposolid type with lots of contours. However, the contours are not visible when editing the points. And maybe you want a water toposolid without any contours.

You can use Graded Region tool on toposolids in Existing phase. Grading of surface points at toposolids works the same way as the shape editor at floors. Sub-Divide tool replaced Subregion tool. You can use Sub-Divide to apply different materials to a toposolid. Then you can set material and height thickness for each sub-division. Mass void replaced Building Pad tool. Create void mass and use the Cut tool to create hole in the Toposolid. This workflow is less comfortable than using Building Pad tool but it enables to create any shape for site excavations or tunnels.

Шаблоны семейств Они снова не устанавливаются вместе с Ревитом. Английские шаблоны — да, русские — нет. Где брать, пока не нашёл. Скорее это удобно, чем излишне. Обычно новички сталкиваются с проблемой, что трубу скрыли фильтром, а на 3Д-виде какая-то как будто труба осталась, выделить нельзя, непонятно, что это. Теперь такого не будет, скрыли основу — скрывается и изоляция. Ориентация аннотаций воздухораспределителей В семейства воздухораспределителей добавили галочку «Сохранять ориентацию аннотаций». Ранее её добавляли в другие категории, теперь дело и до решёток дошло.
Галочка позволяет отображать на плане вложенное семейство аннотаций, даже если воздухораспределитель установлен не параллельно уровню. В России им не пользуются, так что пригодится ли категория — непонятно. Кроме того, заметил ещё в 2023 Ревите категорию «Виброизоляторы», её видно только при создании параметра с типоразмером семейства, в других окнах не заметил. Та же ерунда с категорией «Обозначения подъемов и опусков». Фильтрация по отметкам труб, воздуховодов, лотков и коробов 36 Теперь при создании фильтра для труб, воздуховодов, лотков и коробов можно выбирать кучу всяких отметок, в том числе с учётом изоляции. Обновление формулы Халанда для воздуховодов Просто цитата из справки: «Обновлена формула Халанда для расчета потери давления в прямом сегменте воздуховода.

Ну чисто теоретически тогда можно скрывать ненужные стены и оставлять только один «слой» из стен, предварительно задав ему термическое сопротивление всей стены, и так считать теплопотери. Данные расчёты в Ревите скорее мёртвы, чем приносят пользу, но мало ли кому пригождается. Расскажите о своём опыте в комментариях.

Schedule Revision Clouds Revision clouds can now be scheduled. This includes the ability to schedule related information such as the sheet or view name that the cloud is placed on. Figure 13. Open Sheet Directly from View If a view is placed on a sheet, that sheet can now be opened quickly via right-clicking within the view and selecting Open Sheet as shown here. Figure 14. Right-click in a view to open the sheet it is placed on quickly. Place Multiple Views and Schedules Multiple selected views and schedules can be dragged from the Project Browser onto a sheet. These are spaced out sufficiently so they do not overlap, but they likely require manual adjustment once placed. It is also possible to drag views from one sheet to another within the Project Browser as shown in Figure 16, in which case the views are positioned in the same location. Figure 15. Resizable Dialogs There are over 20 existing dialog boxes that have been enhanced to allow resizing. Figure 18. Example of a dialog enhanced to be resizable. Sorting of Project Parameters in Properties Project parameters are now sorted alphanumerically in the instance and type properties dialogs. Family parameters are unchanged from previous behavior. Architectural The architectural discipline has several new features and will make a lot of architects and designers happy. Of course, we will all have wishlist items not found in the update. Be sure to head to the Revit Ideas site and make sure you post or vote for enhancements you want. Here is an example of a much needed enhancement to the Bind Revit Link Revit Idea that would maintain phases — most do not realize that all phase settings are lost when you bind a Revit link until they need to do it! Textures View Style Revit has a new view style called Textures. I was in the beta user group for this one. It is a cross between shaded and realistic. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. It is possible to have ambient and sun shadows on in this mode as shown in the examples below. Figure 19. Textures view style example with ambient shadows on. Figure 20. Sun settings on ribbon When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon as shown below. Clicking the sun setting button opens the traditional sun settings dialog with the same settings. Another enhancement includes the ability to select much shorter time increment options. Figure 22. Site tools Looking at the massing and site tab below, you will notice a lot has changed. The site tools represent the most significant change in Revit 2024 for architects, which is both exciting and a little scary! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface.
The rest of the colors can be customized in each theme using RGB colors. Add Multiple Views and Schedules You have always been able to drag one view from Project Browser to a Sheet, but now Revit has added the ability to do multiple at a time. Once you have all the views selected, you can drag them into the sheet. You can also do this from the View tab by selecting the View icon, which will open a window that will also allow you to select multiple views at a time. Both of these buttons have an arrow for additional options. These options have been available in a project file for annotation items and work the same as they do in the. This is a great feature for those who are having to manage Revit and IFC exports. Once the mapping for the components is set up, there is an option in IFC Export to select the entities to export.
