Granted, on this test sample, the cockpit was absolutely slammed. That took a larger level of customisation and one that would need more than the hour of bike time I put in. Cranking uphill, the flex in the seat post very effectively takes the sting out of trail chatter and more sudden hits, which makes for a comfy ride over long distances by reducing bum fatigue. Though with a stiff rear end, traction at the back wheel is plentiful and I was surprised not to spin out as the bike capably encouraged me up steep sections with a good heft of speed and without horrific effort levels. Nine distributes rider weight very well both through its reasonably long front-centre and its reserved for Merida seat-tube angle. Only through more technical sections did I feel the need to shift weight forwards.
Elsewhere, I could leave the bike to do most of the work, though with the handlebar slammed on the steerer with a negative rise stem, this was to be expected. This made winding through uphill switchbacks a doddle. Getting the Big. Nine up to speed is hardly a task thanks to its overall light weight but also the stiffness around its rear end and bottom bracket area. Strong bursts of power were massively rewarded with heaps of forward momentum, which became invaluable when preparing to haul up techy ascents or regaining speed after tight corners. In fact, I got so into the easily achieved speed that I found myself pushing everywhere. The decision to employ chunky tyres is one that seriously pays back as not only do they help absorb nastier hits but they help the bike skip over techy sections, which translates into more control.

The frame itself is radically different to the previous incarnation , not least because the last update was as far back as 2018. Теперь хорошо. Руль Merida Expert CC на 740 мм. Вынос Toseek на 65 мм. Предыдущий руль весил столько же, а вынос весил на 130 грамм больше!
Зато надёжные. В итоге, спереди скинул, как минимум, 1 килограмм. Управляемость стала лучше. Согнал ход до 120 мм. Тяжелая 2500 грамм но работает наверняка хорошо, плюс, в отличии от Маниту, больше торсионная жесткость и есть регулировка компресии. Купил, чтобы поэксперементировать и сравнить с Маниту. Теперь переходим к трансмиссии, всё-таки задумчивость Microshift мешала получать удовольствие от катания. Плюс, хотелось избавиться от переднего переключателя. Что брать?
А он есть на Алиэкспрессе. Sx, Nx, Gx. Нет, дорого. Microshift Advent X? Дорого, с учётом того, что надо отдельно покупать каретку, систему с шатунами, а у Тайваньской компании пока их нет.
Of course, this is the team edition with the range topping CF5 carbon frame. There is a second frame available — the CF3 for those of us with no Rio ambitions. The CF5 frame, however, is laid out for 1x drivetrains only — coming built with either XX1x11 or 1x12 Eagle — features an EPS core, high-end fibres and a different carbon lay-up for the 400 individual sheets used in one frame to further reduce the use of epoxy and therefore weight. The custom DT Swiss axle uses a 6mm hex end, but you can remove it and therefore save the 28g. Yet, the new geometry is identical on all models. For a more aggressive handling, cornering and more efficient climbing they shortened the head tube by 1cm and also shortened the chainstays by 7mm. The Big. Nine has 433mm chainstays, while the Big. Seven has 423mm chainstays.

Еще одним серьезным моментом, который сказывается на цене байка и его долговечности, является подбор навесного оборудования.
На тот момент выбор был небольшой, тратить сразу большую сумму за велосипед не хотел. Выбор остановился на Мериде. Обошелся за 30000 рублей. Достал велосипед из коробки, что сразу стало ясно: втулки колёс отвратительные: на шарах, без смазки, туго затянуты. Чтобы их отрегулировать нужно приловчиться, но идеальный момент затяжки поймать непросто. Покрышки не в кассу: тяжелые, с "пластмассовым" составом резины, агрессивный протектор. Проданы на Авито. Спицы хотелось бы черного цвета. Обода ещё ничего, самый базовый вариант. Решил продать колеса, собрать полностью новые, по цене выходило не дороже, чем покупать спицы и втулки, а затем переспицевать колеса у мастера. Что купил? Спицы Sapim Leader. Самые бюджетная модель добротных спиц. На новых колесах велосипед катит прекрасно. Единственный минус - тяжеловаты. Задняя втулка весит полкило. Что дальше? Тормоза Nutt. Гидравлика - хорошо! Всё остальное плохо. Китайская гидравлическая система - лотерея. Роторы пластилиновые. Продано на авито. Shimano MT-200 - топ за свои деньги.
